| Curriculum Standards | |
| |
In order to attain a world-class education system, DoDEA follows curriculum standards that are based on the content standards produced by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the National Council of Teachers of English, the International Reading Association, the National Research Councils National Science Education Standards, and the National Council for Teachers of Social Studies. |
All teachers and specialists follow the DoDEA/DoDDS Content Standards specific to that grade level. |
The teachers at Aukamm Elementary review the standards with their students using "kid language". This aids students in knowing what they are expected to learn and be able to use during each lesson. |
| Early Childhood Education (grades K-3) teachers engage in developmentally appropriate practices. | |
"A Parent's Guide" informs parents about the four major curriculum areas (Language Arts/Reading, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies) for each grade level. This guide also lists ways in which parents can help their children and lists websites for children. |
| High School Graduation Requirements are also available. | |

| A Reading Recovery teacher works one-on-one with students for thirty minutes during the school day. | |
