An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is located near the school multi-purpose room. |
A cabinet with first aid supplies is also on the wall near the multi-purpose room. |
| |
| Illness/Injury at School |
The school nurse assists students who become ill or injured while at
school.
If your child becomes ill or is injured, you will receive
a call from the nurse or office to pick up your child. Only the parent/legal
adult is allowed to take your child off school premises. |
If a condition is serious, medical transport will be called
first, then a call will be made to the parent/legal guardian. At any medical
facility, a parent/legal guardian must be present to authorize treatment
unless it is a life threatening injury/illness. |
We advise you to have your legal office complete a Medical
Power of Attorney which will be maintained with your child's medical record.
Please inform the school nurse when you have completed this process so
she can update the school's medical records. |
| |
| Medication Policy |
If a physician prescribes medication to be taken during
the school day, medication must be brought to the nurse or school office
by the parent/guardian with the "Doctor's Permission for Medication"
form (Word document, PDF file). |
All medications prescribed by physicians must be in their
original prescription bottle with the directions clearly marked on the
label. |
The above applies to over-the-counter medications as well. |
| |
| General Health |
Notify the school nurse of any contagious diseases in our
community that might affect our students. |
Keep your child home when he/she has a fever (100 degrees or higher) or is feeling
ill in the morning. A child too ill for recess is too ill for school. |
Students must be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school. |
Provide us with the necessary physician statement that restricts
certain activities due to a medical condition. |
After any absence send a note to school which states the
reason for the absence. |
Notify the school of an extended absence, along with the
expected date of return. |
Make sure that your child has eaten a well-balanced breakfast
and has a nutritious lunch prior to coming to school. |
